This policy explains what data the Odia OCR Chrome extension ("the extension," "we," "our") collects, how it is used, and how it is handled. This extension is built and maintained by Kortiv AI (kortivai.in).
Website content: When you select a region of a webpage and choose "Extract text," the extension captures a screenshot of only that selected region. No other part of the page, and no other browsing activity, is captured or read.
We do not collect personally identifiable information, authentication information, location data, web history, or personal communications. We do not require or support account creation or login.
The captured image is sent to our backend server, which forwards it to Google's Gemini API for the sole purpose of extracting text (optical character recognition) in the language you select (Odia, Hindi, or English). The extracted text is returned to the extension and displayed to you. We do not use this data for any other purpose, including advertising, profiling, or analytics.
The captured image is shared with Google's Gemini API strictly to perform text extraction. Google's handling of this data is governed by Google's Gemini API Additional Terms of Service. If our backend is operating on Gemini's free tier, Google may use submitted data to improve its products; we will update this policy if that changes. We do not sell, rent, or share your data with any other third party.
Images are processed transiently: they are sent to our backend, forwarded to the Gemini API, and the extracted text is returned — the image itself is not stored on our servers after the request completes. Extracted text is not stored by us; it exists only in your browser's popup window and clipboard, and is cleared when you close the popup or capture a new region.
We request only the minimum permissions needed for the extension to function, and never access tabs or data beyond what's needed to fulfill a capture you initiate.
The extension only activates when you click it and select a region — it does not run in the background or monitor your browsing. You can remove the extension at any time from Chrome's extension settings, which immediately stops all data access.
If we change what data we collect, how we use it, or who we share it with, we will update this page and revise the "Effective date" above.
